Netflix is making its virtual “Geeked Week” fan event a reality with the show’s first in-person component in Atlanta this September.
While the entire Geeked Week celebration will run Sept. 16-Sept. 19, the majority of the experience surrounding TV, film and gaming news from Netflix will take place online (as the three previous versions of Geeked Week have), and then conclude with the real-life event held in Atlanta on the evening of the final day. No details have been released regarding the venue for the in-person show.
This fourth annual edition of Geeked Week, first launched by Netflix in 2021, marks the first in-person person, live component for this event — which the streamer designates as “celebrating Netflix’s biggest global fandoms” and “most beloved Geeked titles” — but comes on the heels of several other in-person events put on by the streamer, including the Tudum fan event (which featured live show in Brazil last fall), the “Netflix is a Joke” Comedy Festival and multiple smaller scale offerings, like the “Bridgerton” Season 3 promenade experience in New York this spring.
Netflix says more details on the event’s programming will be released in the coming weeks, but teases a few of its top sci-fi, fantasy and action titles in the Geeked Week 2024 announcement video, including “Stranger Things” (which is currently shooting its fifth and final season in Atlanta), “Wednesday,” “Squid Game,” “Cobra Kai,” “One Piece,” the live-action “Avatar: The Last Airbender,” “Black Mirror” and more.
